Society of the 12 (“S12,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an emerging Catholic community project created to help adults build meaningful friendships, attend wholesome social events, and discover curated opportunities for connection.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you interact with S12 through our website, forms, quiz, newsletter, events, payments, or community communications.
S12 is currently an informal project and is not yet legally formalized as a separate organization.
1. Who We Are
Society of the 12 is part ministry-inspired community, part social club, and part social experiment. Our goal is to help Catholic adults connect through newsletters, guest lists, curated invitations, dinners, online gatherings, and other community experiences.
S12 is intended for adults only. Although our content is wholesome and not adult or explicit in nature, our community, events, and forms are designed for adults age 18 and older.

2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you choose to provide to us through our website, newsletter signups, quizzes, event forms, nomination forms, payment tools, and community communications.
Depending on how you interact with S12, this may include:
- name
- email address
- city, state/province, country, or region
- age or age range
- gender
- relationship status
- phone number, when voluntarily provided
- Instagram or social media profile, when voluntarily provided
- whether you are a confirmed Catholic or part of a Catholic community
- quiz result or temperament category, when voluntarily provided
- social interests, event preferences, and community interests
- event registration details
- dietary restrictions or accommodations
- emergency contact information for events, when requested
- payment or contribution details processed through third-party payment tools
- photos submitted through nomination or event forms
- photos or media from S12 events
- messages or replies you send to us by email, forms, WhatsApp, or other communication tools
We do not ask for exact birthdates. We may ask for age or age range so we can organize appropriate event invitations and community opportunities.
We previously asked for parish or community affiliation in some forms, but this is not currently a standard required question.
3. Quiz Information
S12 uses a quiz to help people understand their social temperament and to help us organize community invitations in a thoughtful way.
The quiz is currently hosted through Tally. Quiz scores are stored as numbers that point to a result page. These scores are not linked to names or email addresses by default and are intended to remain anonymous.
If you voluntarily submit your quiz result separately through a Guest List, event, or profile form, we may use that information to help organize invitations, introductions, or community experiences.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- send newsletters, updates, and community announcements
- invite people to events, dinners, online gatherings, or local opportunities
- organize people by city, age range, interests, lifestyle, values, and temperament
- review Guest List submissions and profiles manually
- consider people for curated invitations or introductions
- manage event registrations and attendance
- communicate about events, contributions, or community participation
- process paid contributions or memberships through third-party tools
- understand general community growth and participation
- improve our website, quiz, emails, forms, and event planning
- reduce spam, abuse, or inappropriate use of our forms and community tools
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
5. Curated Invitations and Introductions
S12 may manually review profiles, forms, nominations, and preferences to help curate invitations and future introductions.
We do not publicly share your private information. We also do not share your contact information with other participants without your permission.
If S12 begins making curated introductions, we expect those introductions to happen thoughtfully, such as in person, through an event, through a Zoom gathering, or through another intentional format.
6. Events and Guest Lists
When you register for or attend an S12 event, we may collect information needed to organize the event, such as your name, age or age range, contact information, dietary restrictions, emergency contact, and attendance confirmation.
If we print or prepare a guest list for an event, it may include limited information such as confirmed guest names and possibly age or age range. This is used only for event coordination.
Event hosts or coordinators may receive limited information only when needed to help organize or manage an event.
7. Photos and Media
S12 may take or share photos, videos, recaps, or highlights from events for newsletters, social media, website updates, or community storytelling.
When possible, we will announce photo and media practices on the event page or registration form. If you do not want to be photographed or featured, please let us know before or during the event.
If you submit photos through a nomination form or profile form, we may use them internally to review nominations, organize invitations, or understand who is being nominated. We will not sell these photos.
8. Email and Communications
When you sign up for S12, take part in an event, submit a form, or join the Guest List, you may be added to our newsletter or email list.
All S12 newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link. You may unsubscribe at any time.
Even if you unsubscribe from general newsletters, we may still contact you individually about an event, payment, contribution, registration, or request that you initiated.
We may also use WhatsApp, Zoom, email, or other tools to send announcements or coordinate community activities. S12 no longer uses temporary WhatsApp groups as a standard process, but may use a basic announcement community or direct communication tools.
Please remember that if you participate in a WhatsApp group or community chat, some information such as your name, profile photo, or phone number may be visible to other participants, depending on your WhatsApp settings.
9. Payments and Contributions
S12 may accept payments, contributions, or memberships through third-party tools such as Beehiiv and Stripe.
We do not directly store your full payment card information. Payment information is handled by the payment processor according to its own privacy and security practices.
We may keep basic records of payments, contributions, or memberships for accounting, event coordination, fraud prevention, or administrative purposes.
10. Third-Party Tools
S12 uses third-party services to operate our website, newsletter, forms, payments, analytics, events, documents, and communications.
These may include:
- Beehiiv
- Tally
- Stripe
- Zoom
- Google Forms
- Google Drive
- WordPress
- Meta, Facebook, and Instagram advertising tools
- Google Analytics
These third-party services may collect and process information according to their own privacy policies and terms. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use when interacting with S12.
We currently use Google Analytics to understand general website activity and improve our website. Google Analytics may collect information about how visitors use our site, such as pages visited, device or browser information, and general usage data.
We currently use Meta/Facebook/Instagram ads, but we do not currently use the Meta Pixel.
11. Sensitive Information
Because S12 is a Catholic community project, we may ask limited questions related to Catholic identity or community participation, such as whether someone is a confirmed Catholic.
We do not ask for vocation status, discernment details, marriage intentions, confession-like information, mental health history, sexuality, political views, income, or other deeply personal information.
Please do not submit highly sensitive personal information unless we specifically request it and you are comfortable sharing it.
12. Children’s Privacy
S12 is intended for adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
If we learn that a minor has submitted personal information to S12, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
13. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
We may retain certain information when needed for event records, payment records, accounting, safety, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or legitimate administrative purposes.
14. Your Choices
You may:
- unsubscribe from S12 newsletters at any time
- choose not to answer optional form questions
- ask us to update or delete your information
- ask us not to use a submitted photo, when reasonably possible
- contact us with privacy questions or concerns
To make a privacy request, email:
marco@smartcity.university
Deletion and privacy requests may be handled by S12’s administrative team, including Sarai.
15. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect and to limit access to people helping operate S12, such as Sarai and Marco.
However, no website, form, email platform, payment tool, or online service is perfectly secure. Please be thoughtful about the information you choose to share.
16. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as S12 grows, changes tools, hosts new types of events, or becomes more formally organized.
When we update this page, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.
